The Stables Bar
It’s party time…..and we have the perfect place for your guests to let their hair down in!
The Stables Bar, which dates from 1710 is the perfect party pad. The building – once known as the Carriage House is divided into 5 distinct areas:
Still sporting the original stone mounting steps the courtyard is lit with a fairy light canopy at night and hosts Somerset’s most spectacular fire pit! Using an enormous circular iron plate (which was used by the estate carpenter to make carriage wheels) as a lid, the pit also acts as a giant outside heater and is a wonderful space to toast marshmallows over. Evening food in the form of a wonderful Somerset hog roast or street food such as paella is often served in the courtyard by our favourite evening catering team Wellies and Garlic.
The Stables Bar is run by a friendly team of professional mixologists known as Bacchus Wedding Bars. The team can run the bar for you on a cash basis (debit and credit cards are taken) or you can opt to put some money behind the bar or select one of Bacchus’s fabulous evening drinks packages.
The Comfy Room
It’s a great space to relax in and catch up with friends and family, away from the buzz of the dance floor. The area is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas and so is perfect for elderly guests who want to take a break from the day’s excitement.
The larger of our two dance floors the hayloft is a fantastic space to get down and boogie in style! Dating from the last world war the hayloft was erected by American servicemen and might once have housed tanks!
The smaller of our two dance floors the tackroom is perfect for an intimate first dance and is lit with a fairy light canopy. It also houses the wonderful on-site photo booth run by Wellies and Garlic.
